FAQ (for healthcare providers and patients)

Why is climate change relevant to healthcare?

Climate change affects health in many ways, including increased heat-related illness, worsened air quality, wildfire smoke exposure, and impacts on chronic conditions such as asthma and heart disease. Healthcare providers are increasingly seeing these effects in clinical practice, making climate-related health knowledge an important part of patient care.

E2A does not replace clinical judgment or guidelines. Instead, it provides evidence-based resources and practical tools that support informed conversations and decision-making, helping clinicians consider climate-related health impacts while continuing to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

E2A is designed to fit into existing clinical workflows. Resources are practical and optional, allowing clinicians to engage at a level that works for their practice without adding unnecessary burden.

Your care will not change unless you and your healthcare provider decide together that a change is appropriate. Any treatment decisions are based on your health needs, safety, and preferences—not environmental factors alone.

Earth to Action (E2A) is designed for healthcare providers and clinics seeking practical, evidence-based approaches to addressing climate-related health impacts in everyday clinical practice. Patients and community members may also engage through educational materials and clinic-based campaigns.
